The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) in a recent statement has fixed dates of registration and tests for the 2023 edition of the annual Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examinations (UTME) taken by Nigerian students seeking admission into tertiary institutions.
The examination body also approved the dates for the commencement of Direct Entry (DE) registration and made sligh modifications to the UTME mock exercise.
JAMB 2023 registration date
The statement which was made by JAMB’s head of public affairs and protocol, Mr Fabian Benjamin conveyed that the 2023 UTME registration excercise would begin on Saturday January 14th 2023 and would end on Tuesday February 14th 2023 which is on St. Valentine’s Day.
Mr Fabian also said that the UTME 2023 computer based test itself would be conducted between Saturday, 29th April 2023, and Monday, 12th May 2023.
While Thursday, 16th March 2023 was fixed by the agency for the optional UTME mock exam.
JAMB has however made some changes to the UTME mock exam which is usually conducted before the main examination.
He said candidates are now required to pay N1,000 during registration, to prevent losses for the operators of CBT centres should the candidates fail to turn up for the mock exams. In previous years, candidates were allowed to only indicate interest during registration and pay the service charge only later at the CBT center on test day.
However to prevent CBT center operators from losses this year due to candidates not showing up after indication of interest, candidates who are interested in taking the optional UTME mock exam would pay an extra N1,000 during registration.
“With the new arrangement, candidates indicate their interest by paying for the mock at the point of UTME registration, therefore, precluding the centres from incurring any loss whether candidates turn up or not.
“The Board advises all candidates, who desire to register for the 2023 UTME to immediately embark on the creation of their respective profiles (creation of profile code) ahead of the formal commencement of the registration exercise to avoid being caught up in any ensuing bottleneck.”
