RSU to Induct Second Set of Medical Graduates on January 15

Rivers State University (RSU), Nkpolu-Oroworukwu, Port Harcourt, is set to hold the Induction and Oath-Taking Ceremony for its second set of medical graduates on Thursday, January 15, 2026.
The ceremony, which marks an important milestone for the College of Medical Sciences, will take place at the Dr. Ezenwo Nyesom Wike Senate Building by 10:00 a.m.
According to details released by the university, the event is being organised by the university management under the leadership of the Vice-Chancellor, Professor Isaac Zeb-Obipi, in conjunction with the Provost of the College of Medical Sciences, Professor Kenneth Shelu Ordu.
The induction ceremony will formally usher graduating medical students into the medical profession, following the completion of their academic and clinical training. It is a significant rite of passage that affirms the graduates’ readiness to uphold the ethical standards and responsibilities of medical practice.
The Governor of Rivers State, His Excellency Sir Dr. Siminalayi Fubara, is listed as the Special Guest of Honour for the event. Also expected to grace the occasion is the Pro-Chancellor and Chairman of Council, Hon. Okey Wali, SAN, alongside members of the university’s Governing Council, Senate, management, staff, students, and invited guests.
The induction will be conducted under the supervision of relevant professional regulatory bodies, with senior academics and medical professionals in attendance to administer the oath and welcome the new doctors into the profession.
University authorities have described the ceremony as a reflection of RSU’s growing contribution to medical education and healthcare manpower development in Rivers State and beyond. The graduation of a second cohort of medical doctors further underscores the institution’s commitment to producing qualified professionals equipped to serve society.
Students, staff, parents, and well-wishers are expected to attend the ceremony to celebrate the achievements of the graduating medical students.
