Sido Efeoghene has emerged as the President-Elect of the Rivers State University Medical Students Association (RISUMSA) following the conduct of the association’s executive elections.
The election, which was held on 15th December 2025, marked the conclusion of the association’s electoral process for the 2025/2026 leadership. Medical students of Rivers State University participated in the exercise, which was conducted under the supervision of the RISUMSA electoral committee.
According to results announced by the electoral body, Sido Efeoghene secured the highest number of votes cast for the office of president, defeating Favour Peters, his only other opposition in the race by a close margin securing a total of 443 votes in contrast to 426 votes for Favour Peters, a 17 point gap. The outcome reflects the choice of medical students who participated in the election and was observed by all to be free and fair.
In his acceptance remarks, the President-Elect expressed gratitude to students for their confidence and pledged to lead with transparency, accountability, and inclusiveness. He also acknowledged his opponent and members of the electoral committee for ensuring a credible process.

- Financial Secretary – Ariagiegbe Obehi Favour
- PRO – Wokoma Princess Chiboroma
- Director of Socials- Akatugba Daisy Ufuoma
- Director of Welfare – Jirigwa Emmanuel Sylvester
- Director of Sports – Okonkwo John
- Auditor General – Lasisi Miriam
- Provost – Micheal Clinton Kenule
Winners for these offices were also announced at the end of the exercise.
The RISUMSA elections were generally described as peaceful, competitive, and well-coordinated, with students calling for unity and cooperation among the newly elected executives and the outgoing leadership.
The newly elected officers are expected to be sworn in on the 19 of December but the inauguration was postponed due to school closure and a new date has not yet been fixed. Upon inauguration , the newly elected executives will officially assume responsibility for steering the affairs of the association for the duration of their tenure.
RISUMSA plays a key role in representing the interests of medical students at Rivers State University, particularly in matters relating to academics, welfare, and professional development.
